B.A.P releases One Shot mini: Another comeback for B.A.P, I can’t say I’m surprised. I would have expected by now that I would be sick and tired of hearing B.A.P, but they actually bring refreshing music to my ears. From first listen, I’m not enjoying One Shot. Perhaps it’ll take a few listens to grow on me but I enjoyed the rest of the tracks on the album, Daehyun’s voice makes everything amazing (excuse my bias). Even though I wasn’t into the song, I watched the video to see if it would grow on me and to see how handsome everyone looked. I got some reminiscing feelings from previous videos while watching it but it’s messing up my bias list, Zelo is sneaking back on top.
SHINee release Dream Girl:Well I won’t say I was looking forward to SHINee’s comeback because to be honest I forgot SHINee was even having a comeback. It’s not that I’m not a fan of SHINee, I’m just not a major fan of them. I’m not even going to talk about the atrocious fashion displayed in the video because it is too disturbing. But I love love love the song and the dancing (as always) is amazing, I loved their use of the microphone stand.
Tritop covers On and On: I haven’t heard any of their original songs but I have heard several of their covers and I love them. I am a big fan of harmonization, I appreciate a group who can harmonize well and oh my gosh they are the best I have heard yet.
This is my favorite cover by them in case anyone is wondering.
This is my make up post for the week, it’s the usual, I’ve been busy. For my followers who are waiting for a story, I promise this weekend I’ll post a short story. I’ve had one sitting in my editing folder but I haven’t had time to post it. Anyway, I have plenty to catch on with kpop this week.
1. Jaejoong releases mini album and Mine music video. In all honesty I was more excited that Jaejoong would be releasing a mini than I was when I heard One Kiss. One Kiss is just not my genre of music. Jaejoong still sounds amazing but ah that track wasn’t for me. But that did not derail me from listening to the rest of the album because I knew there had to be at least on ballad on the album. And of course since I didn’t like One Kiss I didn’t care for Mine. As for the video, I’m not going to lie I was a bit scared going into it because from the teasers ehh I didn’t think I’d like it. After watching it, my opinion didn’t change, I didn’t like the video. Too dark for me.
I have a strange liking to 내안 가득히, the moment the song started, I fell for it. Not to mention he sounds great in the song, like usual. Hands done, All Alone is my absolute track. It’s sung gorgeously and with raw emotion which makes it a great listen and it’s a ballad. Though I didn’t love every track on this album, I do believe this is a great quality album.
2. Nevermind releases Shooting Star. I haven’t heard of Nevermind, they must be rookies, but they are quite refreshing to listen to. Sounds like the music I used to listen to a few years ago.
3. MYNAME releases new teaser. I swear MYNAME falls off the face of the planet for months (What about Double A?) and I forget all about them. I know they made an official Japanese debut with an original track which was alright. MYNAME better not be fooling me, I want the song in the teaser. No intro track like it,a real title track or regular track on the album please and thank you.
4. B.A.P releases Sound of Rain.I never used to get Baro vibes from BYG but I’m really feeling them in this music video. Which isn’t a bad thing since I happen to like Baro. Daehyun still sounds amazing, please someone give this boy a solo mini album with ballads. I freaking love his voice so much. Baby Zelo is doing his thing quite well with BYG, I swear he’s growing up before my eyes. Still can’t believe I’m older than him. I guess I better get used to saying things like that. Anyway, quality music from B.A.P once again, they never fail to amaze me with their title tracks. I like the approach they took with this track, I wanted to hear a less “in your face” type of track like No Mercy but not exactly a “sugary” track like Stop it. I thought the video was alright, I didn’t find it impressive though the color of the video was nice. As for the dancing….let’s not discuss that.
5. CNBLUE releases Re:Blue album and I’m Sorry music video. I’m a tad disappointed with the title track, I felt underwhelmed listening to the song. Actually that’s the best way to describe the album, underwhelming sadly.
Another wonderful week has passed. I plan on posting quite frequently this weekend, I have quite a bit to say.
MYNAME releases What’s Up: Longest video ever. I thought it would never end. The thing about this video was that it was very….boring. I don’t really care for the song either. It just blends in with every other song I’ve heard in the past few months.
BTOB releases Lover Boy: It’s taken me some time to figure out exactly what BTOB’s sound is like and I think with this track I’m getting a better feel of them. I’m sure sometime soon I’m going to develop a soft spot for them. There’s someone’s voice that I just love to hear but I’m not going to know names for at least two more comebacks.
B.A.P release Stop It and Stop It min album: I’m a bit disappointed with this mini. Happy Birthday, the ballad on the track, is one of those surface plain ballad tracks. It could have easily been sung by any group. On the other hand, I really like their title track, Stop It. The video is very entertaining to watch, then again when is one of their videos not entertaining to watch. I think the song is one of those songs that has to grown on me.
HyunA releases Ice Cream: I don’t happen to have anything against her. I heard quite the interesting things about her when she released Bubble Pop, which I saw as a cute flirty summery song. Now this song isn’t really my type of song. I’m not judging or anything but it’s not making it on my iPod. This is more for the fanboys.
I didn’t forget about this blog, honestly. I don’t know why I always feel bad whenever I go a while without posting. But anyway, the usual I’ve been busy. School, extracurricular activities, personal stuff, ah I’ve had along couple of weeks. I won’t promise I’ll post more often, it’ll probably be a sporadic till at least the end of the year. On the bright side, I got my driver’s license on Monday ^.^ This’ll be another edition of This Week In Kpop except it’ll be covering about two weeks.
The end of To The Beautiful You: I finished sometime last week and I’m in the process of writing a review over it but I’m not sure when I’ll get that posted. Overall I thought it was an average drama. I mean it didn’t exactly have any high points but it was better than I expected it to be.
B.A.P to make a comeback on the 23rd: Perhaps I’m a selfish fan but I don’t think it’s a bad thing when artists or groups release multiple singles in a year. However the close proximity of B.A.P’s singles do worry me a bit. It’s like I swear just last month they were promoting No Mercy. I guess I should be happy since I’m a fan of their music (loved all of the No Mercy mini).
Ailee releases ‘I Will Show You’ and ‘Invitation’ mini: I was so happy to learn Ailee was making a comeback. Her voice is just amazing. I wasn’t feeling the photo jacket or whatever with her with short hair but happily, it was a wig.
Mmmm. I’m actually not a fan of the song or the video. But, her voice sounds flawless. Continuing through her album, I would have preferred Evening Sky to be her title track but I know ballads are rarely picked as title tracks. She sounds the strongest when she sings ballads.
Lol I change my mind, I could see My Love as her title track as well. The thing is with me is that the title track didn’t leave too much of a “I must listen to the rest of the album and this is just greatness” feeling for me. I must say the rap totally disrupted the flow of the song. I can’t stand that.
I have no idea how I had time to blog last year during the week, but this year I barely make it on the internet unless I need to research something. Anyway enough of my complaining, I hope you all have had a great week. I’m thinking about making a This week in Kpop segment on Fridays if this becomes a constant thing, but I’m not sure yet. You can consider this the first unofficial entry of it. And these are in no particular order.
1. BTOB releases audio and video teaser for their comeback
To be honest, I don’t exactly remember BTOB. I’m thinking they’re the group that debuted with Imagine or Insane but I can’t remember. That’s how I know they weren’t that memorable. Wow, their main track I’m assuming, is supposed to be a 180 degree transformation but again, I don’t remember how they used to be. To be honest the audio teaser doesn’t have me excited whatsoever, but I’ll let you guys listen for yourself.
Now watching the video teaser, I remember them now. There was one guy I could always point out, which I guess you could call him my favorite. The video looks like it’ll be quite interesting so I guess I should be looking forward to this comeback.
2. Rookie group 24K releases Hurry Up
24K is made up of 2K and 4K, whom the latter I am familiar with. I remember they came out with a ballad that I wanted to like but it bored me to tears. I guess they were only sub units and 24K is the main group.
I don’t think I should be struggling to be finishing the video. The thing with the video, I could care less about the song, is that I feel that I’ve seen it all before. This is a no in my book.
3. B.A.P releases I Remember with Daehyun and Crash
Let me just say I love B.A.P. They are seriously my favorite rookie group this year. Let me also say I am also glad that I have yet to order No Mercy because I have to get the repackaged album. Crash is great because it shows another side of B.A.P, I swear I’ve seen many sides of them through several songs. It’s a more light upbeat track, which I like. The video shows them acting cute so that’s a plus ^.^
I already love I Remember so adding Daehyun’s perfect voice just makes me love the song even more. Like seriously, why is his voice so amazing?
4. U-KISS releases Cinderella
I don’t know what it is but it seems like every track U-KISS releases since Neverland, I haven’t been fond of. This is no exception.
5. Seo In Guk and Eunji’s deut, All For You
The last duet Eunji did I couldn’t stand, although I like her voice. Her voice can easily overshadow someone else’s voice. I really think it depends on who she sings with whether to duet works or not.
In this case, I think her voice fits with the other. However, I am not a fan of this song.
6. Boyfriend releases Be My Shine
Not too bad actually, very reminiscent of JE groups.
7. FTISLAND releases teaser to I Wish
I was hoping for a song like Severely but I’m loving the vibes I’m getting from the teaser.
It was really a toss up between B.A.P, EXO, and NU’EST. Maybe because I’ve been exposed to B.A.P three times this year as opposed to twice (NU’EST) and once (EXO) music wise that I’ve gotten more time to like them. B.A.P didn’t even debut with my typical favorite genre but they caught my attention and have kept it so far. But regardless of all I’m saying, I still will not consider myself a Baby.
What inspired this post? I just finished listening to their mini album. I’m definitely buying it.
