Checking back in (1/2)

Once again, I am still alive. I’ll spare the details and just say I’ve been a busy girl. But on to the things I’ve missed.

  • Yesung releases Gray Paper for That Winter, The Wind Blows: Of course it’s a ballad, yay in my book, but once again I feel so so about Yesung’s voice. I just cannot get into Yesung’s voice, it just doesn’t strike me as special. Don’t get me wrong, I do think he can sing but he’s nowhere near my favorite voice. Perhaps it’s the tone. The ballad fell flat to me as well.
  • Teen Top releases I Wanna Love: I was completely unaware Teen Top was making a comeback, then again I hadn’t checked anything kpop related in weeks. I have a soft spot for Teen Top, their music is always (well usually) a first time listen for me and I’m hooked. They’ve had some very nice choices for title tracks. Just referring to the video, I can’t deal with C.A.P’s braids. I have never ever been a fan of braid/cornrows on guys. I find it extremely unattractive. I actually paid attention to Ricky not because he’s my bias, but he got some good singing time. Maybe I haven’t seen Teen Top in a while but they all look like they’ve grown into their faces. Most of them had baby faces last time I saw them. As for the song, I can’t tell if I like it or not yet. The arrangement kind of confuses me, I’m getting the same feeling I got with 2NE1′s I Love You. But that song grew on me and perhaps I Wanna Love will as well.
  • Yoseob releases music video for Although I: I liked this track on the album however I don’t think the music video complimented the song whatsoever. It just wasn’t necessary.
  • NU’EST releases Hello: I really liked NU’EST when they debuted but then after their first comeback title track I was thinking perhaps their genre wouldn’t suit my taste. But I think they are still refining their “sound” so I gave their latest track a listen. As for the song, love it to pieces. I was hooked on first listen, it’s quite the easy listen. Video….ehhh. It was too dramatic for me. I just can’t deal with Ren, he’s too pretty.

Junsu’s album is ballad heaven for me.

Maybe other people aren’t too fond of all the ballads on his album but I love them to death. When done right and sang well, ballads are simply gorgeous. Though No Gain is my favorite, I’d like to share all the other ballads on his album.

This isn’t really a ballad, but I’m into R&B songs so I’m including it ^.^

I haven’t finished listening to the album but I’m sure this will be my favorite track.

I wasn’t the biggest fan of  TARANTALLEGRA, but that wasn’t going to discourage me from listening to the rest of the album. I mean come on, miss out on Junsu’s voice? No thank you. Of course I’m attracted to ballad like songs, I’ve mentioned this countless of times, so No Gain is like heaven for me.

Talk about the perfect ballad voice.

I knew Hyunseong had a pretty good voice, his voice and Jeongmin’s in Boyfriend always stood out to me. This time it isn’t about how well he sings or how great he sounds but how the song honestly fits his voice perfectly. Though ballad season is leaving us, I still appreciate a good ballad anytime.

The one time I don’t like Yoseob’s voice.

It’s not that I don’t like his voice, but I really feel like yes he is a great ballad singer but I really want him to branch out.

I was really looking forward to this song. And this is from first impressions, the audio teaser.

This song just does not fit him because he’s paired with Eun Ji. You could say vice versa but collectively in this song, their voices don’t compliment each other. I have nothing again Eun Ji or Yoseob, just not feeling them together.

Finally. My Top 50 Ballads.

I know, as much as I talk about loving ballads, I haven’t even put up an official list yet. So here it is. I actually had a list of 74 but I narrowed it down to 50. They all are accompanied with videos, most the actual music video if available and if not a video with the lyrics or a live will be posted. I must say, I’m not too particularly sure if all of these are ballads, some are just really slow songs with a soft beat, but I still call them ballads.

Enjoy ^.^
