What happened Teen Top?

From the first track that was released, I Wanna Love, I wasn’t impressed from first listen.  I was hoping that would not be an indication of how the rest of the album would be, full album I shall add as well, because I didn’t want 11 tracks of blah. I thought I Wanna Love would have more umph factor but it just lacked a lot of things for me. I’m thinking that track might grow on me but I’m as positive as ever that Miss Right will not grow on me. Honestly I found all the components of the song quite annoying. As for the video to Miss Right, I am luckily still impressed by Teen Top’s choreography.

I’m not sure what happened to their “sound”, I can barely stand whatever they just put out. The autotune was way overdone here. I think they picked some good title tracks but I just wasn’t feeling them. But it seems I am a minority with my thoughts of the album, for many others are praising the album. I don’t feel as if their album was cohesive and meaningful, it seemed to have a few good tracks and the rest were filler tracks. It’s really a shame because I’ve really been on board for their last few comebacks. Better luck next album.

Higlights of the album: Hello, Never Go Back, Mad At U

Meh: Missing You, I Wanna Love

Downfalls: Why, Stop Girl, Miss Right, Intro (no. 1)

Filler songs that had no real place or value: So Sweet, Go Crazy

Checking back in (1/2)

Once again, I am still alive. I’ll spare the details and just say I’ve been a busy girl. But on to the things I’ve missed.

  • Yesung releases Gray Paper for That Winter, The Wind Blows: Of course it’s a ballad, yay in my book, but once again I feel so so about Yesung’s voice. I just cannot get into Yesung’s voice, it just doesn’t strike me as special. Don’t get me wrong, I do think he can sing but he’s nowhere near my favorite voice. Perhaps it’s the tone. The ballad fell flat to me as well.
  • Teen Top releases I Wanna Love: I was completely unaware Teen Top was making a comeback, then again I hadn’t checked anything kpop related in weeks. I have a soft spot for Teen Top, their music is always (well usually) a first time listen for me and I’m hooked. They’ve had some very nice choices for title tracks. Just referring to the video, I can’t deal with C.A.P’s braids. I have never ever been a fan of braid/cornrows on guys. I find it extremely unattractive. I actually paid attention to Ricky not because he’s my bias, but he got some good singing time. Maybe I haven’t seen Teen Top in a while but they all look like they’ve grown into their faces. Most of them had baby faces last time I saw them. As for the song, I can’t tell if I like it or not yet. The arrangement kind of confuses me, I’m getting the same feeling I got with 2NE1′s I Love You. But that song grew on me and perhaps I Wanna Love will as well.
  • Yoseob releases music video for Although I: I liked this track on the album however I don’t think the music video complimented the song whatsoever. It just wasn’t necessary.
  • NU’EST releases Hello: I really liked NU’EST when they debuted but then after their first comeback title track I was thinking perhaps their genre wouldn’t suit my taste. But I think they are still refining their “sound” so I gave their latest track a listen. As for the song, love it to pieces. I was hooked on first listen, it’s quite the easy listen. Video….ehhh. It was too dramatic for me. I just can’t deal with Ren, he’s too pretty.

A fun music video for my eyes.

Visually, I enjoyed the video very much. Music wise….I’ll get back to you on that.

I must say, C.A.P finally looks normal. I found him super creepy in To You. Like I couldn’t even look at him. It must be the change of hair color…..What I’m not feeling is Ricky’s blue hair though.

Well Teen Top…I don’t exactly dislike “Be Ma Girl”.

Can I first off say, I feel ridiculous typing Be Ma Girl. Beyond ridiculous actually. I wonder if it would have killed someone to use My instead of Ma.

Anyway.

The odd thing about this single is I don’t dislike the track. But I don’t love it either. It has some potential loving elements though, so I may just have to wait to the video comes out.

On the other hand, Party Tonight…loved it as soon as the song started. I was giggling at “It’s too hot outside” though, it was cute ^.^

Time to follow another Teen Top comeback.

I swear they just made a comeback. Usually I have a problem with comebacks (I don’t see why groups need to take half a year hiatuses) but remembering that this is the kpop world, comebacks aren’t that frequent. Anyway, from the teaser released I am hoping there is some sort of ballad on these album. It would fit with this concept.

I will say it isn’t the most professional teaser I’ve seen. It looks like fans put it together.
