I guess this is an improvement U-KISS.

Honestly, the last few singles U-KISS have dropped have been like crap to me. I was on board with Neverland and then I jumped right off with their single after that. I guess this single is better, I honestly think I’m just losing interest in U-KISS. I no longer feel the need to comment of fashion choice or hairstyle choice because the epidemic never ends.

This Week in Kpop: 09.17 – 09.21

I’ve officially decided to make this segment, I think I’m going to get busier and busier as the weeks go on.

1. 100% releases Bad Guy

After watching their cover of Mirotic, I wasn’t looking forward to them. Even after the teaser, I was still on the fence.  After watching their debut video….I think they are boring.

2. BTOB releases the dance version to WOW

I’m not sure what the dance video did for me, but I’m really feeling the song now.

3. Taemin releases solo for To The Beautiful You

[youtbe=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTXw25bGN5U&feature=player_embedded]

Talk about a pretty tone! I’ve always had a thing for Taemin’s voice (you know once I actually started hearing his voice) though I don’t favor this ballad too much. It’s your typical ballad that pretty much anyone could sing. But my my, the sound of his voice is lovely.

4. U-KISS releases Stop Girl (color & bw) + mini album

Oh.my.gosh. I can’t even with Dongho hair.

No.

Oh.

No.

Why.

Anyway, like every single after Neverland, I just don’t care for the song. I don’t know what it is, it seems like I’m losing my interest in U-KISS. Their title tracks just don’t do it for me.

It’s unfortunate that this is the only track on the album that I like, however it won’t make it on my iPod.

While I was absent from the kpop world (and this blog)….

I have no idea how I had time to blog last year during the week, but this year I barely make it on the internet unless I need to research something. Anyway enough of my complaining, I hope you all have had a great week. I’m thinking about making a This week in Kpop segment on Fridays if this becomes a constant thing, but I’m not sure yet. You can consider this the first  unofficial entry of it. And these are in no particular order.

1. BTOB releases audio and  video teaser for their comeback

To be honest, I don’t exactly remember BTOB. I’m thinking they’re the group that debuted with Imagine or Insane but I can’t remember. That’s how I know they weren’t that memorable. Wow, their main track I’m assuming, is supposed to be a 180 degree transformation but again, I don’t remember how they used to be. To be honest the audio teaser doesn’t have me excited whatsoever, but I’ll let you guys listen for yourself.

Now watching the video teaser, I remember them now. There was one guy I could always point out, which I guess you could call him my favorite. The video looks like it’ll be quite interesting so I guess I should be looking forward to this comeback.

2. Rookie group 24K releases Hurry Up

24K is made up of 2K and 4K, whom the latter I am familiar with. I remember they came out with a ballad that I wanted to like but it bored me to tears. I guess they were only sub units and 24K is the main group.

I don’t think I should be struggling to be finishing the video. The thing with the video, I could care less about the song, is that I feel that I’ve seen it all before. This is a no in my book.

3.  B.A.P releases I Remember with Daehyun and Crash

Let me just say I love B.A.P. They are seriously my favorite rookie group this year. Let me also say I am also glad that I have yet to order No Mercy because I have to get the repackaged album. Crash is great because it shows another side of B.A.P, I swear I’ve seen many sides of them through several songs. It’s a more light upbeat track, which I like. The video shows them acting cute so that’s a plus ^.^

I already love I Remember so adding Daehyun’s perfect voice just makes me love the song even more. Like seriously, why is his voice so amazing?

4. U-KISS releases Cinderella

I don’t know what it is but it seems like every track U-KISS releases since Neverland, I haven’t been fond of. This is no exception.

5. Seo In Guk and Eunji’s deut, All For You

The last duet Eunji did I couldn’t stand, although I like her voice. Her voice can easily overshadow someone else’s voice. I really think it depends on who she sings with whether to duet works or not.

In this case, I think her voice fits with the other. However, I am not a fan of this song.

6. Boyfriend releases Be My Shine

Not too bad actually, very reminiscent of JE groups.

7. FTISLAND releases teaser to I Wish

I was hoping for a song like  Severely  but I’m loving the vibes I’m getting from the teaser.

May Challenge: Day 15-18 {Boyfriend, U-KISS [Japanese & Korean], 2AM}

Day 15 :Favorite Boyfriend Song

Though I think Boyfriend, their song, was one of the cutest songs in the world I have to go with this song because it shows their vocals off more.

-

Day 16 :Favorite U-KISS Song [Korean]

No surprise here, it’s between my two favorite ballads.

-

Day 17 :Favorite U-KISS Song [Japanese]

-

Day 18 :Favorite 2AM Song

The video saved U-KISS.

As I mentioned in my review, I wasn’t too impressed with U-KISS’s album. I wasn’t looking for to the video really and I’m probably going to forget the video because I’m watching B.A.P’s right after this.

But I must say, I’m loving the choreography to this song. Still not too fond of the song, but the choreo is good. Especially during the “doradora” part.

U-KISS set out to amaze us, but I’m not sure they got the job done.

I have to admit, when I heard about U-KISS’s comeback, I was pretty excited. They impressed me with Neverland so I expected them to do the same with Doradora. Amazing was released first and I have to say, I was not amazed. It was a decent track, but very far of amazing. I didn’t expect for that to be any indication for the rest of the album, but I was sadly mistaken.

-

DORADORA

It really pains me to say this, but I had to struggle to get through the song. This is their title track so I really wanted to like the song but I just couldn’t get into it. There was nothing to really draw me into the song. I thought the single would be more bam impact on me like Neverland did. The main thing is the song doesn’t really have a climax. And the dubstep? Not really there. No comment on the video since it hasn’t been released yet, but I’ll be sure to update this once it does.

-

4U

Composed by Jay Park and you know it from the first line. I actually prefer if Jay sang this instead but U-KISS does a pretty good job of performing it. I can’t help but compare it to Jay’s sound so I’m sure that’s why I’m pretty fond of the song. Pretty much anything Jay Park produces is amazing to my ears ^.^ It’s a fun upbeat song though, it can easily put you in a good mood or get you to bop your head.

-

When Love Stops

Ah a ballad. The easiest way to get me onboard. I have to say, it’s not an amazing ballad in my book. It doesn’t strike me emotionally so I consider it a surface ballad. Those are the ballads that are pleasant to your ears however you don’t really feel anything. I think part of the reason is it’s a more upbeat ballad so I don’t think it should have the same emotional impact. And the thing is U-KISS can execute great ballads, but this just isn’t one of them.

-

Amazing

Amazing is very Neverland sounding. The beat especially. I can’t say it left me with the same impact though. Just like with DORADORA, I had to struggle to get through the song. Amazing was very short of amazingness. I do believe it was misnamed. But if I had to choose, I’d go with Amazing just because Kevin partially saves the song. Amazing just wasn’t a very filling song, it left me with the is that all feeling. It’s just that generic pop song I”ve heard so many times before. It has the catchy chorus and that’s it. There isn’t any real substance to the song.

-

Tick Tock [Out of Time] (Korean Version)

Like most people, the Japanese version just sounds better to me. I think it’s mostly due to the fact that the Japanese version was released first. This one will take some getting used to. It’s like of like when Mirotic was released in Japanese, I couldn’t stand it but it was solely because the Korean version had been out for a while. Besides that, the song isn’t bad at all. Certainly not a brilliant track but it’ll do.

I was really excited for their comeback and I hate that I was so disappointed. There isn’t really a song on the album I can say I’m excited about or one I would really recommend to a friend. The album is so average to me, there isn’t even a shining song to save the album. Personally, Neverland was a better album. I really thought they would win with Neverland so I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t win with this album. They set a high bar with Neverland and DoraDora just didn’t meet expectations. I might get attacked by those rabid Kiss Mes with this review but I could care less. The album wasn’t magnificence. Even the ballad, which usually saves albums from my critics, can’t even save this album. If there is a fan that wants to listen to U-KISS for the first time, I definitely would not recommend this album.

Dubstep and Kpop seem to go hand in hand.

More and more songs seem to incorporate dubstep. I don’t have a problem with it, but there’s some songs it doesn’t seem to work with. I’m not saying this randomly, it has to do with U-KISS. After Neverland I’ve decided to look out for U-KISS since they seem to be the underdogs in the kpop world.

I’m actually feeling it here. B.A.P could blend right in with the first few seconds of the teaser actually. I can happily say I’m awaiting this comeback along with B.A.P’s because their debut was too amazing for me to pass up. What I can pass up however is the ridiculous comments people make. I can’t even take some fans seriously with the things they say and how defensive they get.

Day 11: 20 Day Kpop Bias Challenge

Day 11: Your bias in U-KISS

  • Kevin
This very pretty boy has the voice of an angel. Though I could care less about how pretty, yes pretty he is, I love to listen to his angelic voice. I know some people have  a thing for hands, and Kevin’s hands hear just look so cute ^.^
